Four of our students participated in JEMUN (Japanese English Model United Nations) held at Kinki University for three days from July 15.
JEMUN (Japanese English Model United Nations) is a program for English and international education in which participants take part as representatives of member countries in a model of the United Nations, discussing various issues and seeking better solutions. Through this program, participants learn the use of formal English, international affairs, arguments from each country’s point of view, negotiation, and compromise. This year, 382 students from 24 universities and 11 high schools, including advisors, participated.
From the School of International Liberal Arts, Miku Kishita (3rd year), Amiru Shi (3rd year), Nanami Hidaka (2nd Year), and Huidrom Bidyasagar (2nd year) participated.
They participated in the Model United Nations as representatives of Cote d’Ivoire, Eritrea, Costa Rica, and Malawi. They participated enthusiastically in discussions at the meetings and were able to work with participants from many other universities.
Many international students also participated, and it was a good opportunity for them to test and improve their English skills.

We interviewed Ms. Hidaka, a student who participated in the program.
“At first, I was nervous about working with various students, but we had time to talk about our dreams and deepen our friendship through activities. I once again feel that I was able to meet many friends and be inspired by them.
Not only do I feel a sense of accomplishment for having participated in such a program, but I am also excited about new discoveries and the possibilities for the future.
I would like to thank Professor Yamamoto Craig for his help in the preparation and research for this program.
As he said, we had a lot of fun at JEMUN, grew a lot, and came back with new goals in mind.
We were the only participants from Kyushu this time, but we spent the three days with the energy that is typical of Miyazaki! At the post-meeting, we hope to participate with more students in the future and share what we experienced at MIU.”

Please take a look at the interviews with each student posted on the university’s Instagram page.
