Purpose of Establishment

In order to respond to the diverse needs of the local community and the international acceptability of the globalization of society, MIU has been providing education with an emphasis on English language education in both the School of International Liberal Arts Studies and the School of Education. In particular, the School of International Liberal Arts Studies has a large number of non-Japanese faculty members, and has developed an active learning style of education in which almost all classes are conducted in English, mainly in small groups. CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) methods have also been pioneeringly adopted to enhance education. In order to achieve the SDGs, which have been set as common goals for countries around the world, there is an urgent need to produce internationally-minded people who understand other cultures, have the ability to tackle international issues, and possess excellent communication skills. Against this backdrop and in light of the rapidly changing global society, we have decided to establish the Graduate School of International Liberal Arts Studies (Master’s Program) in order to produce students with advanced international communication skills and international education, in addition to undergraduate education.
