In this course, students will learn the definitions of tourism, tourism products, tourists, and tourism resources, their classification and various characteristics.
Students will also learn about the advantages and disadvantages of tourism and propose measures to prevent or mitigate the disadvantages, and will be able to study and analyze various elements of the tourism industry and create trips based on alternative tourism.

This term’s class size is small (7 students). The class is very close and interactive between faculty and students.

The topic of the day was “Positive and Negative Impacts of Tourism.
The various positive and negative impacts of tourism were categorized into economic, social, and environmental impacts, and then the students worked in groups to determine what impact each item could have. For example, while positive economic impacts include the creation of jobs and employment, negative factors include the income gap with non-tourism-related industries and the dependence of income on tourism. Thus, the goal is to learn about the various aspects so that we can consider countermeasures to the disadvantages and measures to promote the advantages.

In this way, the Hospitality and Tourism Management Course at Miyazaki International University’s School of International Liberal Arts offers classes for those who wish to work in the tourism industry or related companies in the future.

These classes are taught in English, but students can ask questions immediately about anything they don’t understand because of the close proximity to the faculty. Since content study is conducted in English, students can improve their English 4 skills at the same time while learning about tourism.
