Over the past few classes, the students participated in a live virtual tour of the Museum of Vancouver to learn about a portion of British Columbia’s immigration history. They also learned about the life and work of important Canadian icons including Thomas Robson Patullo and Emily Carr through the Royal BC Museum. To culminate this unit, the students created a personal digital museum of sorts through images that represent parts of their biography and presented them PechaKucha-style to the whole class.

In another class, our SFU teacher introduced work culture in British Columbia (BC). She also invited a guest speaker who is a Human Resource personnel of a non-profit organization in Vancouver. The students learned about professional life in BC in particular, and compared and contrasted it with work culture in Japan. Finally, the students had an opportunity to discuss their learnings with each other and ask questions to the speaker.  

以前の授業では、バンクーバー博物館のライブバーチャルツアーに参加し、ブリティッシュコロンビア州の移民の歴史について学びました。また、カナダの重要な象徴的人物であるトーマス・ロブソン・パトゥッロやエミリー・カーの人生や作品についても、ロイヤル・ブリティッシュ・コロンビア博物館を通じて学びました。この単元を終えるにあたって、学生は自分の人生を表す画像を使用して、パーソナルデジタル博物館を作成し、PechaKucha-style（プレゼンテーションの形式）でクラス全員の前で発表しました。

他の授業では、サイモンフレーザー大学の先生がブリティッシュコロンビア州の労働文化について紹介し、バンクーバーの非営利組織の人事部の方をゲストスピーカーとして招き、話をしてもらいました。学生たちは、特にブリティッシュコロンビア州における社会人生活について学び、それを日本の職業文化と比較・対照しました。

最後に、学生たちは学んだことについて互いにディスカッションし、ゲストスピーカーに質問する機会を持ちました。
