Professional Teacher Development

This research delves into the teaching realities of Japanese English Teachers (JTEs) working in the private secondary school system in Japan. The investigative and interpretive inquiry provides examples of how engaging in collaborative reflective practice, guided by professional discourse, can empower JTEs to make conceptual changes in their teaching. One way to conduct collaborative professional teacher development (PTD) projects focusing on developing teacher knowledge. This research was underpinned by Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory (1978) and framed by critical reflective Praxis cycles.
